Agra Fort: Agra Fort was built by
three Mughal emperors - Akbar, Jehangir and Shahjahan. The construction
of this spectacular fort began in 1565. The construction was started by
Akbar and was completed by his grandson, Shahjahan. The fort features
massive double walls, with four gateways, the fort houses palaces,
courts, mosques, baths, gardens and spacious pavilions within its
complex.
Jama Masjid : The Mosque was built in 1648 AD by Jahanara Begum.
The absence of minarets and the shape of the dome gives it an
outstanding character.
Fatehpur Sikri: This unique
city was built by Akbar between 1571 and 1584 AD. One can see a complete
blend of Hindu and Islamic architectural grandeur in this deserted city.
Sikandra: Named after the Sikander
Lodi, this structure houses the remains of the Emperor Akbar. The
construction of this monument was started by Akbar but completed by his
son Jehangir.
Itmad-ud Daulah's Tomb:
The tomb was built between 1622 - 1628 AD by Nur Jahan in the memory of
her father Ghiasud-Din-Beg.
Chini-ka-Roza : This monument is a memorial dedicated to the
famous poet and scholar of Jehangir's reign, Allama Afzel Khal Mullah
Shukrullah of Shiraz.
Ram Bagh : Built in early 16th century, Ram Bagh is one of the
earliest gardens laid by the Mughals.
Mariyam's Tomb : This red sandstone tomb was made for Akbar's
Rajput wife in 1611 AD.
